There is a new, unheard album by The Beatles out there. And “James Richards” wants to spread it to everyone [via The Daily Swarm]:
On Sept. 9, 2009 I experienced something that I still am having trouble believing happened to me.
I came into the possession of a cassette tape containing a Beatles album that was never released.
Anyone find it odd that the album is on cassette instead of, say, vinyl or 8-track?
Whatever the rhyme, reason or timing behind the appearance of Everyday Chemistry, the mysterious “Beatles” album “Richards” found, the website (The Beatles Never Broke Up…) is a fairly entertaining piece of musical fanfic, complete with a downloadable copy of the record.
Or should I say cassette?
The actual songs tend to have more of a Grey Album sheen to them. No, Jay-Z’s not on any track (or, at least, none of the songs I’ve heard), but the mash-up has a certain neo-retro tinge to them that displays the age of the sampled work more than it creates a sensation of an “uncovered” album from decades ago.
But, it is entertaining nonetheless. And pretty good, at least, so far.
